<a href="#comment-248" rel="nofollow">@AMR </a>
I suppose the 30 lbs. *could* be a slight exaggeration... but I feel like my summer weight was only that number because I *forced* it to be so. Then once I stop forcing it (i.e. start eating what I want with no exercise), that number will bounce back to where it feels more comfortable... asap. Every other time should work though if I keep up with the exercise. Good tip!

your winter/holiday traditions seem pretty consistent and i don't think you've gained 30 lbs during any of the past several winters!! :) for my cholesterol-y self, i usually let myself eat whatever i want every-other time i go out. then i don't feel deprived OR guilty!

I'm glad to hear you like my cooking that much. My tip for losing some after dinner calories is: wash the pots and pans, load the dishwasher, take the crock pot back downstairs and wash the food off the tables and floors. A better idea is, maybe I should go visit my cousin in Florida, as he mentioned, and not come back until Spring. I can't help you with your consumption of too much wine unless I drink it all myself. This is starting to sound better and better to me.

JBP, you are so good. I could never get to your level of exercise and charity giving! You are one to be admired, for sure! Xtina has been doing road races lately, maybe I will ask her some questions on what it's like and see if I could do it. For all my gym-going, I still don't consider myself "fit" and am concerned about muscle spasms. Maybe a goal for the Spring if I keep at it, though! Then we could all do one together!

RB, I can't believe that Adam and I have the same favorite wine! He is SO in my wheelhouse! I just remember that pinot noir was what I identified as my fave at the last wine tour so I usually stick to it. But I'm also afraid of triggering migraines so the wine drinking tends to be infrequent. So far so good these days, though. Maybe I've grown out of my migrains. :)

Staying exercize motivated through the winter is so tough. I'm already finding I'm forcing myself to stay out of early hibernation mode. Re. tips, I'm trying out some new things, like (weather permitting) running two 5Ks over Thanksgiving weekend: one early Thursday morning and one Saturday morning. Proceeds for both go to local charities which helps with the motivation factor, and I figure if I burn-off some stuffing and pie, bonus. I may also start swimming at the Y, just to incorporate something different into my routine.

I drank wine every day Mon thru Fri last week! He's totally sparked my taste for red wine (pinot noir especially). I drank it at a fancy work dinner, I drank it at informal dinners at NF's, I drank it while pumpkin carving w/AMR and I drank it at home to celebrate my promotion at work! It's my all-occasion wine! A wine tour sounds fantastic - I hope I'm invited. Do you think Ruby will be there too?
